CIISec to introduce Digital Badging

1st August 2022

We are introducing Credly Digital Badges to our CIISec Membership offering which will be rolled out this year. We have partnered with Credly to provide a digital credential which can be used in email sign offs, via a digital resume you may use, and on Social Media platforms such as Linkedin, Twitter and more. The digital image that you receive as your badge contains verified metadata that describes your qualifications and the process required to earn them.

Below we have answered the most frequently asked questions, but of course the CIISec team are always on hand to help with your queries and to ultimately make this a streamlined process for everyone that would like to be involved.

Q: What is a digital badge?
Think about all the achievements you’ve earned in your lifetime. Completing a certification or training program, joining a professional association, getting a degree, or receiving recognition at work for a job well done. A digital credential, or badge, pulls these achievements out of your home, your computer, or the registrar’s office to show people what you know and can do.

Q: What are the benefits of a badge?
Representing your skills as a badge gives you a way to share your abilities online in a way that is simple, trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers concrete evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and what you’re now capable of.

Q: What if I don’t want my badge to be public?
You can easily configure your privacy settings in Credly. You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that is made public.

Q: When can I expect to receive my badge?
Our first roll out of badges will be to our Full and Fellow Members of the Institute. We plan to launch the first set shortly after CIISec Live in September.

Q: How do I earn a badge?
You can earn the badge by holding accredited level of membership with CIISec.

Q: What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?
While badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on the Credly platform. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.

Q: What if I don’t want a badge?
That’s fine, all you need to do is to decline the request from Credly when it comes through via email.

Q: Who is Credly?
Credly is the end-to-end solution for issuing and managing digital credentials. Credly works with credible organizations to provide digital credentials to individuals, worldwide.

Q: I have a question about Digital Credentials.  Where can I find support?
