Launch of the 'Guide To Inclusive Language' in partnership with (ISC)²
Today we announce the launch of the 'Guide To Inclusive Language' in partnership with (ISC)²
Back in 2022, CIISec and (ISC)² strengthened the current relationship by entering a strategic partnership with the purpose to increase the number of diverse professionals that enter, stay and advance within the cybersecurity profession.
The language guide launched today aims to demonstrate commitment to DEI through the use of inclusive terminology. This not only cultivates a sense of belonging, but it shows that the cybersecurity industry is evolving and committed to removing barriers to entry.
Thank you to all parties involved in shaping this guide. Below you will find quotes from those involved in the CIISec D&I initiatives who were a part of this project with (ISC)2.
Nurul Gee Zulkifli Lead, Business Efficiency & Employee Engagement at Standard Chartered Bank - “There is power in words, and you can make a difference with them. Choose inclusive words that acknowledge and enable other to be seen, heard and valued.”
Sarah Armstrong-Smith, Chief Security Advisor at Microsoft - “Language can be the thing that breaks or binds us, which is why we can use it to break down barriers”
Nicola Whiting MBE, Co-owner of Titania Ltd - "Language doesn't "define us", but it does shape us, and how others perceive us. Showing you care about peoples worth, by actively choosing empowering language (demonstrating you value and respect others) isn't only good business, it's good humanity."
Please do feel welcome to share along with your wider networks as this guide is open to everybody.
