What the Webinar will look to cover:
The cyber security field is now awash with academic qualifications and professional certifications, targeting both general and specialist aspects of the topic area.  At the same time, there is a widely recognised skills shortage, limiting the opportunity to find and recruit the necessary talent in practice.
Unfortunately, the situation can be further hindered by a lack of understanding of the knowledge and skills that we might actually need, which adds to the challenge of defining and filling the appropriate roles.  This leads to a fundamental question of whether we are actually looking for something we won’t find. And if so, is it because we expect too much, or because we simply don’t know what to look for?
This talk examines how cyber security is defined in terms of the knowledge and skills required to support it - highlighting that we can get very different answers depending on what we use as our frame of reference.  It then considers how these perspectives are reflected in the myriad of cyber-related qualifications and certifications, and the potential confusion consequently facing both candidates and employers when seeking to make sense of the situation.
