Colin Robins, CIISec East Midlands Branch Chair
Colin leads the East Midlands Branch of CIISec building on his broad cyber security experience, gained over 30 years working in both research and directly with customers and boards.
He is Nexor’s Managing Security Consultant, a company specialising in secure information exchange for the high threat community.
He is a Fellow of CIISec, and a NCSC Certified Professional.
Charles Edwards, Detective Sergeant 2877, Digital Media Coordinator/ Digital Hub Supervisor- DMI Team and Cybercrime Unit, Leicestershire Police
Charles Edwards is a Detective Sergeant and is the Tactical Cybercrime Lead for Leicestershire Police. Charles is passionate about upskilling frontline officers knowledge of all things designing and developing an integrated mobile device examination kiosk programme across his force which has won international accolade.
In the world of Cybercrime Charles has led on complex investigations but maintains that the key indicator isn’t the number of positive outcomes but the reduction in crime and the better safeguarding of all who wish to go online safely.
Charles has recently completed a MSc at University College Dublin in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime Investigation and in 2019 became a Senior Strategist Investigator within the Institute of Cyber/Digital Investigative Practitioners and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Information Security.
Samantha Hancock, Cyber Protect Officer, Leicestershire Police
Samantha Hancock is the Cyber Protect Officer for Leicestershire Police, supporting Communities and Businesses across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Sam’s career in Policing saw her join Derbyshire Police as staff member in 2003 where she was the Co-ordinator for the Derbyshire Business Against Crime initiative for 3 years, until moving over to Nottinghamshire Police in to replicate the project. Sam spent 10 years with Nottinghamshire Police, including being promoted to Crime Prevention Unit Manager and Strategic Crime Prevention Lead.
In October 2016, Sam took up the position of Force Cyber Protect Officer with Leicestershire Police, initially increasing cyber and fraud awareness within Force, and then broadening out to businesses and our communities to help both raise awareness and make them more resilient against Cybercrime and Fraud.
Sam has undertaken a number of courses in the Cyber field, and also holds CISMP (Certificate in Information Security Management Principles). She also has wide experience of public engagement, running workshops and training, and experienced use of using social media, networks and traditional media in order to push out messages and guidance to help all of our communities.
Although responsible for local delivery and messaging for Leicestershire Police Cybercrime Team, Sam works very closely with East Midlands Special Ops Uunit Cyber Crime Team, and will also be working in partnership with East Mdilands Cyber Resilience Centre.
