Owanate has spent almost a decade recruiting in the Cyber Security field, securing individuals and teams which meet specific technical and/ or leadership requirements for some of the world’s most innovative firms, to the mutual benefit of individuals’ career progression and the needs of the company.  Before this Owanate recruited Technology and Operational Risk specialists, during this period he was successful in staffing several high profile banking regulatory programmes. He founded Bestman Solutions in 2020.

Owanate will discuss a recent mandate he was tasked with by a Financial Services organisation:  The directive was to recruit both technical and regulatory specialists to bolster the firms' security posture and create a new security division.  The Chief Information Security Officer saw this as a potential opportunity to address the gender imbalance within IT and the legacy security division.
Here, Owanate will discuss the challenges he faced both within the firm and in the external market to identify, attract and create the right team.  What seemed like a straight forward goal was met with some surprising challenges along the way.
