Framework Abstract
The CIISec Skills Framework is widely accepted as the go-to industry standard for measuring the required knowledge, skills and competencies of cyber and information security professionals. First published in 2006, the Framework continues to be developed in collaboration with industry leaders across public and private sectors, academia, and security experts, so it remains current and widely adopted across employers, agencies, stakeholders and cyber teams.
This updated version 3.0, released in September 2024, embraces the growing importance of cyber intelligence, digital investigations and analytics; the introduction of a core set of mandatory and essential skills, and new terminology following consultation with the nuclear industry. The Skills Framework underpins the CIISec Capability Methodology (CDM).
