In honour of International Women’s Day, CIISec is thrilled to present and share with you a thought-provoking panel discussion on empowering women in cybersecurity.
We would like to introduce you to our International Women’s Day panel joined by speakers – Dr Saritha Arunkumar, Camille Mallon, Debi McCormack and Sarah Janes – who all came together to share perspectives and experiences that they have encountered as women in cybersecurity.
In this panel you will hear key takeaways that will leave you feeling inspired, tips and tricks from our panel that you can implement into your day to day work, as well as addressing the complex challenges that women face in today’s digital landscape.
Meet the ladies involved in the panel…
🔹 Welcoming Dr. Saritha Arunkumar, IBM Public Cloud Worldwide Technical Leader in Security as our esteemed Host.
With Saritha’s wealth of knowledge and infectious enthusiasm, she will guide us through a dynamic and engaging panel discussion along with three other inspirational women…
🔹 Sarah Jaynes, CEO of Layer 8
Sarah shares insights into her early career experiences where she was constantly being told that she didn’t have enough ‘experience’. Sarah shares some great words of wisdom in that there may be a path that people expect you to follow, but that path may not be right for you and your journey – do what feels right for you!
🔹 Debi McCormack, Communications Director of The Cyber Scheme
Debi is passionate about demystifying pathways into cyber and her work at The Cyber Scheme supports this. Debi also touches on the human side of cyber and how communication skills are imperative in the technical disciplines to ensure that key messages can be conveyed succinctly to those who may not have technical expertise, but are still key stakeholders in the business.
🔹 Camille Mallon, Co-Founder of Women in Tech & Cyber Hub
Camille shares her challenges with being so excited about the industry that she wanted to conquer everything at pace, but struggling with burnout along the way. Camille talks about regulating your personal and work life to find your baseline, and recognising the traits when you are exceeding your capacity to prevent burnout from happening.
Let’s celebrate the achievements of women in cybersecurity and work together towards a more inclusive future.
