Introduction
Now in its third year, the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP) security survey represents data and input drawn from practitioners in the security profession. The views of the industry professionals surveyed (both members and non-members) paint a picture of a sector that is both booming and under pressure.
The breadth of respondents is considerable, both in terms of age, background and job role – hence the value of the results beyond the survey’s first incarnation in 2015 (that chiefly focused on member views, perceptions and feedback) truly shows the security industry is a complex and enthused community.
As well as this white paper the results of the member feedback are used to create an article in the IISP member’s magazine Pulse – in particular those questions that focus on member opinions and suggestions. Additionally, as in previous years, an anonymous extract of the industry data is available to corporate IISP members to help them respond to changing trends in their recruitment and retention activities as they build and reinforce their security functions.
